Department of the Forensic Medicine & Toxicology - Course Outcomes
At the completion of this course, the students should be able to:
- Describe and perform basic medicolegal duties pertaining to health services in Sri Lanka;
- Perform clinical medicolegal examinations in cases of violence in a scientific, evidence-based victim-friendly manner;
- Perform forensic autopsies in sudden and unnatural deaths in a scientifically reviewable manner;
- Interpret the clinico-pathological findings related to autopsies/clinical forensic cases and laboratory / histopathology reports to formulate relevant medicolegal opinions;
- Demonstrate effective communication skills including report writing, presentation skills and providing oral testimony in courts;
- Engage in continuing professional development with self-learning ability.
