Faculty Quality Assurance Cell

The Quality Assurance Cell of the Faculty of Medicine maintains a close partnership with Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka's Quality Assurance Cell, jointly committed to upholding top-tier standards within the faculty. Collaborating seamlessly with various committees and departments like the Curriculum Development and Medical Education Unit, it diligently oversees the implementation of quality assurance protocols.

At its core, the Faculty of Medicine's Quality Assurance Cell is dedicated to refining and enhancing quality assurance processes across both faculty and university levels. Serving as a central hub for faculty members, students, and administrative staff, it prioritizes the advancement of teaching, research, and service quality, aligning its objectives with esteemed national and international benchmarks.

Functioning as a trusted advisory body, the QA Cell provides invaluable guidance and recommendations to key decision-makers, including the Dean and other pertinent committees. This ensures that the pursuit of quality remains steadfastly integrated into all aspects of operational and strategic endeavours.

 

Objectives

  • Establish standardized procedures and protocols for quality assurance processes across the Faculty of Medicine, SUSL.
  • Regularly assess and evaluate the effectiveness of existing quality assurance measures in meeting predetermined quality standards.
  • Foster collaboration and communication among different departments, committees, and units within the faculty to ensure cohesive quality assurance efforts.
  • Increase awareness and understanding among stakeholders about the importance of quality assurance in maintaining high standards of education, research, and service provision
  •  Benchmark against national and international quality assurance standards to continuously improve and enhance the quality of education, research, and service delivery.
  • Establish mechanisms for soliciting feedback from stakeholders to identify areas for improvement and address concerns related to quality assurance.
  • Provide training and professional development opportunities to faculty, staff, and students to enhance their understanding and implementation of quality assurance practices.
  • Facilitate a culture of continuous improvement by implementing feedback-driven strategies and incorporating best practices in quality assurance processes.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and accreditation standards related to quality assurance in higher education and healthcare.
  • Hold individuals and departments accountable for maintaining and upholding established quality assurance standards and procedures.
