Department of Primary Care & Family Medicine - Teaching /Learning Activities

The Primary Care and Family Medicine clinical attachment consists of two weeks of clinical appointments at the following settings.

  • Family Practice / General Practice Clinics
  • Outpatient Department of the teaching hospital, Ratnapura
  • Primary Care units  Kiriella &  Kiragala

(Duration:   2  weeks, Monday to Saturday from 8-00 am to 12-00 n)

 

Assessment Strategy

Eligibility to appear for the End of Course Assessments 

  • Minimum of 80% attendance for tutorials and SGDs even with valid medical certificates or approved leave for any absence.
  • Those who do not obtain a minimum of 80% attendance will have to appear for the next scheduled examination, which would be considered as a second attempt.

End of Course Assessments (1st Attempt)

Written Paper I 20 MCQ (15 MTF + 05 SBA) 1 hour 30 marks
Written Paper II 2 SEQ 1 hour 30 marks
OSCE 10 stations (6 min. each) 1 hour 40 marks
Total 100 marks

 

End of Course Assessments (Subsequent Attempts)
