Learning Outcomes of the Orientation Programme
At the completion of this course, the students should be able to:
- navigate the university environment by understanding its organizational structure, rules and regulations to ensure a smooth transition into university life.
- outline the medical undergraduate curriculum to develop a comprehensive understanding of academic expectations and progression.
- identify effective study strategies essential for success in medical education.
- apply fundamental information technology and English language skills to support academic learning and professional communication.
- recognize the importance of essential soft skills, professionalism, and ethical conduct required for medical practice.
- demonstrate teamwork skills by participating in group activities to foster collaboration and peer support and, integrate extracurricular, aesthetic, and community activities into a balanced student life.
- identify available student support services, including counseling and mentorship, to enhance personal and academic well-being.
- describe the roles of different healthcare professionals and institutions in the healthcare system of Sri Lanka.
- apply stress management techniques to cope with academic and personal demands, promoting resilience and well-being.
- implement mindfulness practices to improve focus, emotional regulation, and overall mental health in both academic and professional environments.
