Project Proposal and the MOU for the Preventive Research Center

On 2nd January 2025, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between Dr. Samandika Saparamadu, President of the Sri Lanka College of Lifestyle Medicine (SLSLM), and Prof. Nirmalie Wickramaratne, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka (SUSL).

This marked the establishment of the Preventive Research Centre (PRC), a collaborative initiative between SLSLM and SUSL. The PRC aims to address the prevention of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) and infectious diseases of poverty in underserved communities. Through community-based participatory research (CBPR) and evidence-based behaviour change strategies, the centre focuses on developing pragmatic, cost-effective, and culturally tailored prevention models. Additionally, the PRC emphasizes multi-centre research and evaluations on disease prevention, with a special focus on NCD reversal through lifestyle interventions.
