MeUReS
The Medical Undergraduates’ Research Symposium, MeUReS, is a flagship academic event of the Faculty of Medicine, Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka. Initiated in 2022 as the first Medical Undergraduates’ Research Symposium, it has grown into a whole-faculty platform that brings together students, academic staff, departments, invited guests, and external stakeholders to celebrate undergraduate research. Through student research presentations, academic discussions, keynote contributions, and recognition of outstanding work, MeUReS provides a formal space for medical undergraduates to communicate their findings, receive critical feedback, and engage with health-related questions that matter to communities and clinical practice.
MeUReS reflects the Faculty’s commitment to developing doctors who are not only clinically competent, but also inquiry-driven, evidence-informed, and responsive to local health needs. The symposium encourages final-year medical students to translate their research experience into clear academic communication, thoughtful evaluation, and practical insight. As an annual faculty event, MeUReS strengthens the research culture of the Faculty of Medicine, SUSL, while creating opportunities for collaboration, mentorship, and the exchange of ideas across disciplines. It stands as a continuing expression of the Faculty’s broader mission to integrate education, clinical care, community engagement, and research.
