Celebrating Three Years of Progress, Purpose, and Pride!
The Faculty of Computing at Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka proudly marks three years since its inauguration, celebrating a journey of steady and purposeful growth shaped by academic excellence, institutional responsibility, and a clear long-term vision. Over this period, the Faculty has built a strong foundation in teaching, learning, research, and assessment, consistently aligning its academic practices with national quality assurance frameworks and internationally recognized standards in computing education.
Over the past three years, the Faculty has strengthened its academic identity through a dedicated and dynamic academic team, an expanding portfolio of industry-aligned curricula, and growing student engagement in research, innovation, and professional development initiatives. Continuous improvements to both physical and digital infrastructure at the Belihuloya premises have enhanced the learning environment, enabling the delivery of contemporary, technology-driven computing education that responds to evolving global and local demands.
A significant national-level milestone has further strengthened the Faculty’s future outlook, with planned infrastructure development included in the Public Investment Programme (PIP) 2026–2030 of the National Planning Department under the Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development. This recognition underscores the Faculty’s strategic importance and opens new opportunities for long-term expansion, supported by an upcoming preliminary space audit and feasibility study to guide sustainable development.
Looking ahead, the Faculty Administration and academic staff remain firmly committed to advancing the Faculty’s vision of becoming a nationally and internationally recognized centre of excellence in computing education. With a strong emphasis on innovation, research, industry collaboration, and student-centered learning, the Faculty continues to nurture the next generation of computing professionals and researchers, empowering them to make meaningful contributions with lasting global impact.
