My university journey began as a dream come true for my middle-class family. Admission to the university felt like uncovering a treasure. I was selected for the Computing and Information systems 2012/2013 batch. I embraced this new chapter with enthusiasm. Though I had some technical background, the university broadened my horizons by shaping my career as a programmer and entrepreneur.
In 2016, I began my professional journey as an Intern at Arimac, a pivotal step that led to a permanent role as an Associate Software Engineer.
During my time at university, I served as the secretary of the IEEE Sri Lanka university branch, organizing impactful events like Let Me Hack, IEEE Day, Virtual Rival event, showcasing our university’s potential. Balancing academics, extracurriculars by playing in the band in musical events like Raathriya wee, participating in hackathons and working remotely was challenging. All this time, the Department of Computing & Information Systems supported me immensely during this time, ensuring my academic success.
In 2019, I graduated with a second-class-upper.
Today, I’m a tech lead at a reputed company and director of my own firm, grateful for the foundation my university provided.
