7th Interdisciplinary Conference of Management Researchers (ICMR) 2022 16th & 17th November 2022
The Faculty of Management Studies (FMS) organized the Interdisciplinary Conference of Management Researchers (ICMR) for the 7th consecutive year on November 16th & 17th, 2022, which was initially founded in 2016.
The last two years were a difficult and traumatic period for all individuals and business firms globally due to the COVID-19 pandemic which has had a tragic impact on the world economy. The FMS, as a responsible academic institution, believed that it is their utmost responsibility to provide ethical academic leadership to facilitate business firms and individuals under tremendous strain to be resilient. With the idea of creating a platform to address this timely need, the FMS initiated this year's conference with the theme of “Ethical Academic Leadership in Economic Turbulent Times."
The world’s renowned academics, namely Prof. Steve Hanke, Emeritus Prof. David Aaker, Prof. Suhaiza Zailani, and Prof. D.G. Dharmarathna, enriched the conference as keynote speakers. The diversity of the research domains they represent ensured that the conference focused on its essence, fostering interdisciplinary research. To align with the conference theme, representing the industry, Mr. Lalith Senevirathne, the Group Chief Executive Officer of SLT Mobile, delivered an invited speech focusing on integrating ethical practices to ensure business resilience during the new normal.
To achieve this targeted vision, 65 international and local research papers and abstracts were accepted to the conference based on a rigorous double-blind peer review process. Consequently, the 7th ICMR comprised 11 concurrent sessions covering various spheres within the Management discipline, including Human Resource Management, Marketing and Supply Chain Management, Accounting, Financial Management, Banking and Insurance, Tourism and Hospitality Management, EcoBusiness Management, Education Management, and Health Management. By organizing this conference on the selected theme with the concurrent sessions, the FMS provided a common platform to research scholars and practitioners to initiate a knowledge dialogue on how to be resilient and uplifting economic development in the new normal within existing ethical practices and cultural principles.
