Empowering the Next Generation of Tech Professionals!
On 28th October 2025, the Faculty of Computing, Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka, accompanied a group of third-year undergraduates who are currently preparing for their internship programme on an industrial visit organised under the “Bridging the Skill Gap” initiative by SLASSCOM. The programme aimed to enhance students’ professional readiness through industry exposure and essential skill development.
The day commenced with Industry Landscape and Soft Skills Training Sessions held at the Institute of Bankers of Sri Lanka (IBSL), Colombo 08. During these sessions, students gained valuable insights into the current trends of Sri Lanka’s IT industry, employability expectations, and the importance of soft skills in professional environments. Industry experts shared practical advice on communication, teamwork, and adaptability, key competencies required for successful career transitions.
In the afternoon, students participated in a University–Industry Engagement visit to SimCentric Technologies, located at the Orion City, Colombo 09. This visit provided an invaluable opportunity for students to witness real-world software development processes and engage with professionals working on cutting-edge technology solutions.
The event served as a significant bridge between academic learning and industry practice, preparing undergraduates to better align their skills with evolving industry needs.
A sincere appreciation goes to SLASSCOM, IBSL, and SimCentric Technologies for their generous collaboration, guidance, and hospitality in making this program a memorable and impactful experience for our students.
