Meeting with United States - Sri Lanka Fulbright Commission Officials
The Faculty of Computing, Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka, had the privilege of welcoming officials from the United States–Sri Lanka Fulbright Commission for an insightful discussion on Fulbright Scholarships with its academic members. The visit took place on 16th October 2025 at the Dean’s Office Boardroom and was graced by the presence of Prof. S. Vasanthapriyan, Dean of the Faculty, Dr. Patrick McNamara, Executive Director of the United States–Sri Lanka Fulbright Commission, and Dr. Usree Bhattacharya, U.S. Department of State English Language Specialist, along with the academic staff of the Faculty of Computing.
This visit was a result of the “Awareness Session on Fulbright Scholarships” organized by the United States–Sri Lanka Fulbright Commission in collaboration with the Faculty of Social Sciences and Languages, SUSL during which the officials also extended their visit to the Faculty of Computing to engage with its academic community.
This informative session provided the academic staff with a valuable opportunity to learn about the wide range of Fulbright scholarship and exchange programs available for higher education, research, and professional development in the United States. Participants gained a deeper understanding of the eligibility criteria, terms and conditions, and the numerous academic and cultural benefits offered through these programs.
The discussion inspired the attendees to consider applying for these prestigious opportunities and to build international collaborations that will contribute to the faculty’s ongoing academic excellence and global engagement.
