Congratulations Professor S. Vasanthapriyan for being awarded as the CSSL National ICT Educator of the Year 2022!

We are delighted to announce that Professor S. Vasanthapriyan has been honored with the prestigious title of CSSL National ICT Educator of the Year 2022!

The Computer Society of Sri Lanka (CSSL), dedicated to promoting professional standards in the ICT sector since 1976, recognized Professor Vasanthapriyan's outstanding contributions at the CSSL National ICT Awards ceremony held on October 11, 2023, at Shangri-La Hotel, Colombo. The title was awarded by His Excellency Ranil Wickremesinghe, the President of Sri Lanka, acknowledging Professor Vasanthapriyan's exceptional dedication to ICT education.

Professor Vasanthapriyan's academic journey is marked by numerous achievements, including a Doctor of Engineering in Computer Science from Wuhan University of Technology, China, an MSc in Computer Science and Engineering from Eindhoven University of Technology, Netherlands, and a BSc Honors in Computer Science from the University of Peradeniya.

With over eighteen years of experience as an educator, Professor Vasanthapriyan has been a cornerstone at Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka. His visionary leadership was instrumental in establishing the Faculty of Computing at SUSL in 2022, where he serves as the Founder and Founding Dean with unwavering dedication.

His commitment to nurturing future computing graduates is evident in his tireless efforts to advance computing education and research. Professor Vasanthapriyan has played a significant role in imparting ICT knowledge, fostering innovation, and creating new learning opportunities for the student community.

Not only does he represent our institution at reputable local and international academic conferences, but he has also taken remarkable initiatives to build ICT capacity through training and development within our university, society, and country.

As an inspiration to students, he consistently encourages them to strive for excellence at both local and international levels, setting a high standard for future generations. His role in E3-Computer Science at SLAAS showcases notable contributions to regional ICT development, while his engagement with IEEE, IEEE Computer Society Sri Lanka Chapter, as a Senior Member of IEEE, highlights his impact on the global computing community.
