Congratulations Team “SynTax_Error” for Winning the First Place at CodeSprint7.0 Final Showdown

With immense pride, the Faculty of Computing at SUSL congratulates the Team “SynTax_Error” for winning the First Place at the CodeSprint7.0 organized by the IEEE Student Branch of the Informatics Institute of Technology (IIT), Sri Lanka.

CodeSprint7.0, the largest and most comprehensive idea incubator hosted by a Sri Lankan University in 2023, was organized by the IEEE Student Branch of IIT, in collaboration with the Women in Engineering Affinity Group of IIT and the Computer Society of IIT. The event garnered significant attention, with over 1500 attendees and participation of over 20 prestigious industry partners.

The competition started in January 2023 and consisted of four phases: IdeaSprint, DesignSprint, BuildSprint, and SprintPitch. Each step was designed to test the competitors and promote innovative thinking. The culmination of CodeSprint7.0 took place on 5th June 2023, with the investor pitch by the top 5 finalist teams out of all the 4 phases. Esteemed individuals from the tech industry were present to witness the event and to evaluate the projects presented.

The following are the members of the Team "SynTax_Error" who are second year undergraduates of the Department of Software Engineering, FoC, who demonstrated their exceptional skills and brought honor to the University.

Their idea, "EventVibes," captured the attention of the judges and industry professionals throughout the competition. "EventVibes" is an online marketplace for event planners to showcase their work and portfolios. Customers can explore and purchase event planning services through the website, which offers a seamless platform for both event planners and clients.Team SynTax_Error demonstrated exceptional talent, innovation, and execution throughout the competition, ultimately securing their victory in the investor pitch held on 5th June 2023.

We, at the Faculty of Computing extend our gratitude to IIT for hosting such events that provide undergraduate students all over the country with greater opportunities to succeed. Aiming to foster talented individuals who can thrive in the ever-evolving field of software engineering, the Faculty of Computing at SUSL continually strives to foster an environment where students can excel in extracurricular activities along with their academic pursuits.
