Reflecting on the Inauguration Ceremony of ICARC 2024
The inauguration ceremony of the 4th International Conference on Advanced Research in Computing (ICARC 2024) was successfully concluded on the 21st of February 2024 at the Auditorium of the Faculty of Geomatics, Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka.
The event was graced by the presence of Professor K.R. Koswattage, representing the Vice-Chancellor of the Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka, the Guest of Honour Mr. Dhammika Marasinghe, the President of the IEEE Sri Lanka Section for 2024, prominent speakers from the academia and industry, and leading research fellows from local and international universities. The event was attended by the academic and administrative staff of the University, our own students, representatives from the industry, and well-wishers.
The conference which was themed "Smart and Innovative Trends in Next Generation Computing Technologies" set the stage for a special guest speech on “Computer Vision with 21st Century AI" by Professor Saman Halgamuge from University of Melbourne, Australia. Mrs. Jyotika Athavale, the President of IEEE Computer Society - 2024, IEEE HeadQuarters, Washington, D.C. USA, and Mr. Ashique Ali, the Former Chairman of SLASSCOM also joined the event online, sharing their inspiring insights.
