Challenges of the adaptation of information technology in Sri Lankan event tourism.

The study's findings reveal that the cost, resistance to change, tech-savvy employees, lack of government support, and security issues resulted from adopting information technology in the Sri Lankan event industry.

Summary of the study

Most event organizations currently used information technologies to some extent in their event operations. Further, Sri Lanka cannot organize fully technologized events due to challenges associated with adopting information technologies. Therefore, integrating technology with event planning tools through websites, apps, social media marketing, and other IT initiatives provides exciting opportunities to make each event memorable. The findings elucidate practical managerial implications for event organizers, government and residential communities where events are held. Maximize the awareness of attendees and organizers, investing in the latest event technologies, government involvement in policy framework and private, and public partnership are essential in creating long-term opportunities in the Sri Lankan event industry
