Summary of the study
The tourism industry is one of the hard-hit industries by the COVID-19 Pandemic. It is glad to mention here the government with the support of the Ministry of Tourism and Aviation and SLTDA has taken many steps to protect the tourism industry. The successful implementation of them will be helpful for the survival of the industry in this crisis. However, the government should listen to industry professionals and experts further before executing the plans. These plans should not be a part of the political agenda and should apply without any biases. Collaborative decision making including all the parties is essential. Most importantly, these plans should not be limited to the documents. The practical application of them is an immediate requirement. The future of Sri Lankan Tourism will depend on that. Furthermore, Sri Lanka should develop new strategies to position the country globally with a solid promotional campaign to lead the country to a new era.
