Olympism is a philosophy of life that uses sports for the development of humanity. This philosophy is expressed through actions that link sport to culture and education.

The project entitled Sport and Physical Education as a Vehicle for Inclusion and Recognition in India, Indonesia, and Sri Lanka (SPIRIT) is an ERASMUS + EACEA funded project under KA2- Cooperation for Innovation and the exchange of good Practices-Capacity building in the field of Higher Education (Agreement Number- 617779-EPP-1-2020-IN-EPPKA2-CBHE-JP) organize inclusive sports events through SPIRIT students’ sports clubs under the work package 5. This activity is commenced from 5.00 p.m. to 6.00 p.m. in working days for both academic and non-academic ladies.
The National Olympic Committee is willing to collaborate with the Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka in organizing an Olympic Value Education Program for University Sport and Physical Education Instructors. For this initial discussion Mr. Maxwel de Silva, the Director General of the National Olympic Committee; Mr. BLH Perera, a legend in the Olympic Education of Sri Lanka and Ms. ErangaFernado visited the Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka.
The SPIRIT ERASMUS+ project started the Life Long Learning training series under thedissemination and exploitation work package collaboratively with the Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka. A training program on ‘Sports Injury Prevention and Basic First Aid’was conducted on 29th of December 2022which offered an excellent opportunity to the athletes who participated in the inter-university games in Sri Lanka to improve their knowledge and raise awareness of the benefits of sports injury prevention and basic first aid.
The European Commission leads the consortium of 12 universities to research Sports Education in India, Sri Lanka, and Indonesia under the Erasmus plus (+) project. This initiative is aimed at capacity building in the field of sports, physiotherapy, and physical education through research and community development.The European Union’s Erasmus+ plus program is a funding scheme to support activities in the fields of education, training, youth, and sport.
