The Faculty of Social Sciences and Languages (FSSL) of Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka had its commencement at the same time when the University commissioned its study programs in 1996.
The faculty is divided into six departments, which offer fifteen-degree programs. These programs are committed to fulfilling every aspect of the pursuit of the vision and mission set forth by the faculty. This interdisciplinary faculty typically encompasses a wide range of disciplines, including Economics, Statistics, seven Languages, Translation Studies, Sociology, Political Science, Geography, Information and Communication Technology, and more. The faculty often emphasizes critical thinking, research skills, and effective communication, preparing students for careers in various fields such as social work, education, the latest technologies, public policy, international relations, and language-related professions. The faculty anticipates and integrates the knowledge and skills demanded by the ever-changing job market, ensuring the essential requirements of society in the future.
