Extraction of Nano Oxide Particles from Sri Lankan Mineral Sands

This is a low cost environmental friendly hydrothermal technique which is used to produce nanoparticles of well-crystallized titanium dioxide powders from the well-structured mineral of Ilmenite, with a composition of FeTiO3 beach mineral sands from Sri Lanka. This can be done at a relatively low temperature with saturated vapor pressure under hydrothermal conditions compare to the conventional methods. The results demonstrated that the process is inexpensive, environmentally friendly, and promising in preparing high-purity TiO2 from ilmenite with a high content of gangues.
