Ceremonial Opening of the Innovation Center and Learning Commons of the Faculty of Applied Sciences

The Innovation Center and Learning Commons of the Faculty of Applied Sciences was declared open on October 20, 2022, with the graceful presence of Senior Professor R.M.U.S.K. Rathnayake, the Vice Chancellor of the Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka.

Mr. Saman Uyangoda, the Registrar of SUSL, Professor E.P.N. Udayakumara, the Dean of the Faculty of Applied Sciences, Deans of sister faculties, Directors of centers, the members of the academic, academic support, and administrative staff, and the students participated in the event.

The facility was established under Activity 05 of the  Accelerating Higher Education Expansion and Development (AHEAD) Project of the Faculty of Applied Sciences.

The goals of the establishment were further explained by Dr. Lalindra Ranaweera, the Project Coordinator and Activity Coordinator. These goals include providing the students with spaces for collaborative group work and individual study with modern technology amenities and top-notch support with information and technology resources and fostering innovation. By incorporating open and collaborative areas into a single structure, the design elevates educational programs by embracing the idea of hands-on learning experiences for students.
