Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka through University Business Linkage Cell has signed its 2nd licensing agreement with Cap Organic Pvt. Ltd in a pioneering initiative to commercialize the Soursop Based Medicated Wine Series with Anti-Diabetic Activity developed as a collaborative effort between Faculty of Applied Sciences, Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka, and Accelerating Higher Education Expansion and Development (AHEAD) Operations. This product was invented by an expert and professional research team consists of Dr. Namal Perera, Dr. Thilini Kananke, Dr. Rasangi Sabaragamuwa, Prof. Kapila Rathnayake, Prof. Udaya Rathnayaka, Prof. Nirmali Wickramaratne, Mr. Darshana Anuradha and Ms. Gayani Dias.
This wine has a perfect blend of excellent herbs including Passiflora foetida, Osbeckia octrandra and Syzygium cumini which are known to carry anti diabetic effects on the human body. Scientific research confirms that the wine contains powerful natural antioxidants which can protect consumers from many degenerative diseases. According to laboratory research carried out by the research team, soursop can also suppress prostate cancer cells.
The official ceremony was held on 27th April 2021 at the Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka. The event was graced by the Vice-Chancellor, Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka, Mr. Ranjan T Hanchapola, Managing Director, Cap Organic Pvt. Ltd and other distinguished guests.
