University Business Linkage Cell has conducted two separate meetings with Perera and Sons Bakers Pvt. Ltd respectively on 21st May 2021 and 08th July 2021 via Zoom Platform. The purpose of these meetings were to create the commercialization linkages and to liaise the university researchers with the outside industry. During the meetings the university researchers have presented their innovative products as follows;

  1. “A Food Waste Compost Bin” – Innovated by Prof. Manjula Magamage and his research team – Faculty of Agricultural Sciences 
  2. “Corn Hull Incorporated Biodegradable and Edible Food Packaging Material” – Innovated by Dr. Niroshan Jayasooriya and his research team – Faculty of Applied Sciences
  3. Purple Yam Chips” – Innovated by Ms. Ayesha Kannangara – Faculty of Agricultural Sciences
  4. “Jack Fruit Based Snack” – Innovated by Dr. Niroshan Jayasooriya and his research team –  Faculty of Applied Sciences

 

This partnership was established through the National Science Foundation and the Sri Lanka Food Processors Association and they were the initiators of taking the steps to introduce this industry partner to the university.
