Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka through University Business Linkage Cell has signed its 3rd licensing agreement with Cargills Ceylon PLC to officiate the commercialization of two Ceylon Cinnamon Beverages; “A Healthy Cinnamon Latte” and “A Cinnamon Leaf Tea” invented by Prof. Achini De Silva, Dr. Chathurika Jeewanthis, Mr. Tharaka Weddagala and Mr. Janaranjana Ekanayaka.
These innovations were developed as a collaborative effort between the Department of Agribusiness Management, Faculty of Agricultural Sciences, Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka, and Accelerating Higher Education Expansion and Development (AHEAD) Operations. These two delicious cinnamon beverages have the capability of providing a natural health booster blending with 100% high quality Ceylon cinnamon (Cinnamomum zeylanicum) with pure Ceylon cinnamon taste.
This momentous occasion was held on 03rd November 2021 at the boardroom of the Vice Chancellor’s office of the University. The event was graced by the Vice-Chancellor of Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka, Lead Academic Expert Research and Innovation – AHEAD Project Prof. Thusitha Abeytunga, Group Managing Director – Cargills Ceylon PLC Mr. Imtiaz Wahid and other dignitaries.
