Events

The Department of Economics and Statistics is organizing different kinds of events with the collaboration of the different outside resource persons, and stakeholders in the industry which are useful for the academic staff members, students, non-academic staff members and outside community.

The Department of Economics and Statistics is planning to conduct the Stakeholder Orientation Programme for Statistics students on 21st November 2020 as an online programme under the AHEAD project.

4. Workshop on training administrative and non-academic staff for handing documentation and interactive communication with stakeholders to form a smart office

The workshop on training administrative and non-academic staff for handing documentation and interactive communication with stakeholders to form a smart office will be conducted on 23rd and 26th November 2020 as an online event. Mr. Lal Fonseka will be shared his valuable insight as the guest speaker in this workshop. This is organized under the AHEAD project.

5. Workshop on Improving Academic Literacy in English

The Department of Economics and Statistics is planning to conduct the Workshop on Improving Academic Literacy in English on 18th-20th December 2020 and 26th-28th December 2020 as an online programme under the AHEAD project.

 

6. Workshop on Project Proposal Writing for Small and Medium Scale Entrepreneurships

The Workshop on Project Proposal Writing for Small and Medium Scale Entrepreneurships for 3rd-year 2nd-Semester Economics undergraduates will be conducted during the period of 8th December 2020 to 24th December 2020 as eight days online event. 
Dr. R.P. Herath, Senior Lecturer at the University of Kelaniya and Mr. Janaka Lakpriya, Deputy Manager at the National Development Bank shared their valuable insight as the resource persons in this workshop. This is organized under the AHEAD project of the Department of Economics and Statistics.

7. Workshop on improving Business communication skills 

The Department of Economics and Statistics is planning to conduct the Workshop on improving Business communication skills in English on 14th, 15th, 21st, and 22nd January 2021 as an online programme under the AHEAD project.

 

8. Cambridge Examination on Teaching Knowledge Test (TKT) Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) module

Academic staff members of the department sat for the Cambridge Examination on Teaching Knowledge Test (TKT) Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) module conducted by the ACBT. Certificates awarding ceremony for completing the training on English medium teaching was also conducted on 13th January 2021 at the Board Room of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Languages. Congratulations our team….!

There will be an IEEE/IEEE WIE Awareness Program by the IEEE Student Branch of SUSL & IEEE WIE Student Branch Affinity Group of SUSL incorporated with the Department of Economics and Statistics.

 

16. Workshop on Improving Business Communication Skills in English

The Department of Economics and Statistics is planning to conduct the Workshop on Improving Business Communication Skills in English for undergraduates on 15th, 21st, 27th, and 29th December 2021 as an online programme under the AHEAD project.

 

17. Workshop on Data Visualization with Power BI

The Department of Economics and Statistics is planning to conduct the Workshop on Data Visualization with Power BI for department academic staff members on 31st January 2022 as an online programme under the AHEAD project.

 

18. Grand Finale and Awards Ceremony (Speechcraft Programme)

The academic staff members of the Department successfully completed the speechcraft programme conducted by Siyane Toastmasters Club.

 

19. Launching the Sri Lanka Journal of Economics, Statistics and Information Management (SLJESIM)

We are Launching the SLJESIM - Volume: 01 Issue: 01 on 28th June 2022 from 10.00 am to 11.00 am at the SDC, SUSL.
