
University Business Linkage Cell
The University Business Linkage Cell of Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka was established with reference to the University Grants Commission Circular No.10/2016 from May 2018. The Cell functions directly under the Vice-Chancellor and the Senate approved Advisory Board. The UBLC has taken the responsibility to link the University research and innovation activities with external business stakeholders. We help startups of our undergraduates/academic community and assist in commercialization of their innovations, research and development activities.

Our mission is to create value for the great ideas of the university community by transforming their knowledge into Intellectual Property thereby, socially and economically empowering nations with meaningful university-industry collaborations.

Our Functions
- Developing and practicing business-oriented students’ projects by providing them with access to the relevant expertise and advisory services.
- Providing training, coaching, mentoring and consultancy services for the students, staff and regional SMEs.
- Creating awareness of the importance of IP and the need for proper IP management within the research community by organizing workshops, conferences and programs.
- Implementing an IP policy in the university to identify, protect, evaluate, commercialize and realize the value of the innovations.
- Promoting research cooperation between industry and the university resulting in a mutually beneficial partnership.
- Assisting researchers to develop local and international collaborations through knowledge and technology sharing programs.
- Facilitating the transfer of university innovations to the market and society through licensing.
