Research groups are formed to set a feasible environment for the learning and research process . On one hand, sharing the knowledge of the research findings is advantageous in students' learning while on the other hand addressing rapidly changing demands of the industry requires a group of scientists who are working on the different disciplines of Geoinformatics.

Some of the objectives of forming research groups are as follows:
