Workshop and Competition on Spatial Data Analysis and Mapping with SuperMap – Student Forum

Virtual at 26th, 29th July, 2nd and 5th August 2021

In collaboration with SuperMap Software Co. Ltd., China, the Faculty of Geomatics is organizing a virtual workshop for the University student community in Sri Lanka, for its 8th International Symposium of Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka 2021 (ICSUSL 2021).

Objective:

The main objective of the workshop is to improve students' level of GIS knowledge by giving hands-on experience through a new GIS platform - SuperMap, to execute comprehensive spatial analysis, both in 2D and 3D, enabling them to address future demands and global challenges more effectively.

Background:

The advancement of knowledge and technology is still incapable to address global challenges, such as pandemics and climate changes. We, as the nations’ leader in teaching, research and development in geo-spatial science, believe GIS will assist to understand these issues more effectively.

Very soon, you will enter the society as a qualified graduate-/postgraduate-holder, and also as an energetic young practitioner in Geomatics or in a related discipline, so that it is worthwhile for you to be thorough in this technology.

  1. Web based Developing Techniques Workshop - Special Trainee program for the staff members of the Education Department of Sabaragamuwa Province, from 13.12.2019 to 31.01.2020.

  2. AIABDA 2019 –The Third International Workshop on Artificial Intelligence and Big Data Analysis, August 20 - 24, 2019

  3. One day workshop on new generation of GIS with SuperMap GIS software for staff and 4th yerar students of the Faculty of Geomatics, Nov. 9, 2018

  4. Workshop for Provincial Departments of Inland Revenue, 12th and 13th of October, 2018.

  5. Workshop on Open source GIS using QGIS (Basics), 28th -  30th August 2018

  6. Workshop on Positioning and Navigation organized by Faculty of Graduate Studies in collaboration with Faculty of Geomatics.  7th and 8th July 2018.
