The Need of the Personal Vision and Mission for a successful University Life

Career Guidance Unit (CGU) of the university successfully conducted a lecture on "The Need of the Personal Vision and Mission for a Successful University Life" on invitation of the Students Counseling Center of the university on 29th January 2019 at the Auditorium of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Languages. The lecture was conducted by Mr. Deepal Wijayasekara, the Career Guidance Counselor of the university.

Proposal Selection Interviews

Upon completion of two programmes under NEDA (National Enterprise Development Authority)  directions for undergraduate entrepreneur development, the selected business proposal are called for interviews on 21st February 2019 with the participation of NEDA representatives and managerial representatives from the People’s Bank. Nine (09) candidates are participated for the interview and NEDA will grant Rs.150, 000.00 for each selected successful business proposal.

Mental Relaxation Programme

Career Guidance Unit of the Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka successfully conducted a training programme for the send year undergraduates of the Faculty of Management Studies on ''Stress Management & Mental Relaxation''. The objective of the programme was to make aware the undergraduates towards the mental relaxation and a balance personality in their lives. This session was based on activities which allow them to sense the importance of mental relaxation. The programme was held on 25st of May 2019 at the Auditorium of the Faculty of Management Studies of the University. The programme was conducted by Mr. Deepal Wijayasekara, Career Guidance Counselor of the University.

“Manage your Stress for Better University Life” stress management and relaxation programme

Career Guidance Unit (CGU) of the Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka conducted a stress management and relaxation programme titled “Manage your Stress for Better University Life”

on 11th June 2019 at the Auditorium of the Faculty of Social Sciences & Languages. The objective of this programme was facilitate first year undergraduates to manage their day to day stress by developing the coping abilities in order to develop a sound university life from their initiative stage of the university. The programme was conducted by Senior Professor Ghanadasa Perera, Head of the Department of Philosophy & Psychology of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura.

Career Fair-2019

Career Guidance Unit (CGU) of the university, successfully conducted a Career Fair programme in collaboration with the National Human Resource Development Council (NHRDC) on 10th December 2019 at the Sabaragamuva University premises.

The main objectives of the programme was develop the industrial link and network with the university and enhance the future career opportunities for the Sabaragamuva University undergraduates. Apart from that school leavers after the Advance Level examination of the Ratnapura Distric Secretariat, were also invited for the programme. By aiming the school leavers, “Career Motivation” secession was also conducted by the CEO of TheMotivator (Pvt) Ltd., Dr(Eng). Ranil Sugathadasa at the inauguration of the event.

By representing private sector organizations, ten (10) companies were took part the event as career opportunity providers, mean time eleven (11) training institutes were also participated the event by representing private and government sectors.

Four hundred seventeen (417) undergraduates by representing Social Sciences and Languages, Management Studies, Applied Sciences, Agricultural Sciences and Technology Faculties of the university were participated the Career Fair programme and more than eight hundred (800+) school leavers were also participated for the programme throughout the day.

CGU expect to evaluate the success level of the entire programme by connecting with the participated companies and institutes as well as with NHRDC in order to make more beneficial career development events in the following year.
