Centre for Indigenous Knowledge and Community Studies (CIKCS)

Centre for Indigenous Knowledge and Community Studies (CIKCS) was established on 18th December 2006 at the Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka with the aim of providing facilities for those who are interested in postgraduate studies in Indigenous Knowledge and Community Studies. Accordingly, the centre has introduced three courses of studies namely Postgraduate Diploma (PGD), Master of Philosophy (MPhil) and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD).

Admission to MPhil/PhD Degree 2020

The candidates from any discipline who wish to follow the above courses in the Centre for Indigenous Knowledge and Community Studies are encouraged pursue the indigenous studies pertaining to Sri Lanka or any other country in the world.

Applications are called from suitable candidates for the admission of the following Postgraduate Programs conducted by the Centre for Indigenous Knowledge and Community Studies of the Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka. These Postgraduate degree programs can be selected under two major streams. The candidates who are interested in studying traditional knowledge (indigenous knowledge) in technology, agriculture, medicine, fishery and fine arts, etc. Those who wish to study the social, economic, cultural, religious and health protection systems, evolution and the language of Indigenous Communities in Sri Lanka or any other country in the world can apply for these Postgraduate degree programs.
