Sujeeva Sebastian Pereira is an English language and literature academic who has applied a lot of experience in teaching and research in English language teaching. She is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of English, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Sri Jayewardenepura, where she teaches an assortment of courses, such as Pedagogical Theory and Practice, Introduction to TESL, English Language and Grammar, Writing and Critical Reading, Mediaeval, Elizabethan, Augustan and Romantic Literature.

The main areas of her research activity are related to TESL and applied linguistics, such as language anxiety, cultural displacement, stereotypes in ESL and the effects of language in cartoons. She is also enthusiastic about larger subjects, like higher education, politics, and literature, which makes her an interdisciplinary scholar.

Sujeeva Sebastian Pereira is also a doctoral student at the Faculty of Graduate Studies, University of Colombo, where she is undertaking her PhD in a discipline related to the English language and TESL.
