Yoko Nishina received her Ph.D. and habilitation/“Venia Legendi” from the University of Erfurt, Germany. After working as the chair professor of Japanese Linguistics and Translation Studies at the University of Bonn, Germany, she took up her current position as a professor at Hiroshima University, Japan, in 2016. She has served as a trustee and vice president of Hiroshima University. Her research interests include general linguistics, contrastive linguistics, and Japanese as a second language. She is currently the Program Director of the Graduate Program of Teaching as a Second Language at Hiroshima University.
