Crafting your research path : A Workshop for Beginners

A workshop on the topic 'Crafting Your Research Path: A Workshop for Beginners' was organized by the Quality Assurance Cell,Faculty of Technology, Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka. This event was designed for both students and staff members of the university. The resource persons for the workshop were Prof. Bandula Wijay, Ambassador for Science, Technology, and Innovation for Sri Lanka, and Eng. Vimukthi Vithanage,Lecturer, Faculty of Technology at Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka. Special thanks are extended to Dr. Sarath Bandara for coordinating and organizing this workshop on behalf of the Quality Assurance Cell at the Faculty of Technology, Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka.

Adventure Program designed to enhance the personal development of undergraduate students

Mr. Pathum Weerakkodi, a Lecturer in the Department of Sports Science & Physical Education within the Faculty of Applied Sciences at Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka, recently organized a tailored Adventure Program designed to enhance the personal development of undergraduate students in the Faculty of Technology. Mr. Pathum is a highly regarded consultant who operates under a resource person contract as part of the STHRD project. This project is dedicated to fostering the personal and professional development of undergraduates within the Faculty of Technology at Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka. Mr. Pathum will be utilizing his expertise to develop specialized training programs aimed at addressing the specific needs of undergraduates with the goal of nurturing and enhancing their personal development. The students were engaged in variety of adventurous and personal development activities including engaging in personal development games, conquering hills through climbing, and embarking on thrilling water adventures. Mr. Aruna Jayasena and Mr. Anuradha Bandara have given support in ensuring the success of this program.

Workshop on ‘Sexual and Gender Based Violence (SGBV)

A workshop on ‘Sexual and Gender Based Violence (SGBV)’ which was organized by the Faculty Gender Equity and Equality cell and the Centre for Gender Equity and Equality (CGEE), Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka for the staff members and undergraduates of the University was successfully conducted 14th September 2023 at the Staff Development Centre. Emeritus Prof. Kumudu Wijewardhane from the Faculty of Medicine Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka participated as the resource persons for the workshop.

Level Up Innovate - Workshop 2

The Second workshop of "Level Up Innovate" was successfully conducted on the theme of "Path to become a successful undergraduate researcher" 20th of August 2022 via virtual platform to establish research driven mindset among 2nd year and 3rd year undergraduate students of Faculty of Technology. For this workshop of the series, Dr. Lakshitha Pahalagedara who is the head of Business Development, Sri Lanka Institute of Nanotechnology (PVT) Ltd. shared his experience in research and development as a resource person.
The workshop was organized by the Faculty Industry collaboration unit (FICU) with FQAC and CQC of the Faculty of Technology.

Tech Colloqium - Workshop 2

The Second workshop of "Tech Colloqium" was successfully conducted on the theme of "Best Practices in Industrial Occupational Health and Safety" 06th of July 2022 via virtual platform to give third-year students a brief introduction about the Health and safety practices following in the industry, before entering students to the industrial training,. For this workshop of the series, Mr.Kirama Chandrakumara who is a Safety, Health, Environment and Stakeholder Manager shared his experience in INSEE Ecocycle Lanka Private Limited as the Resource person.
The workshop was organized by the Faculty Industry collaboration unit (FICU) with FQAC and CQC of the Faculty of Technology.

Tech Colloquium - Workshop 1

The Second workshop of "Tech Colloquium" was successfully conducted on the theme of "How to be an independent Professional in global market" 02nd of June 2022 via virtual platform. For this workshop of the series, Mr. Adheesha Sooriyabandara shared his experience in Freelancing and Gig Economy as the Resource person.
The workshop was organized with the joint collaboration with Industrial Collaboration Unit and the Career Guidance Cell of the Faculty of Technology.

Level Up Innovate - Workshop 1

The first workshop of Level-UP Innovate, the Workshops series specially created for third-year students to enhance their knowledge, skills, and attitude toward innovative thinking was successfully conducted on Wednesday 01st of June 2022 at the Main auditorium- Faculty of Technology. For the first workshop of the series, Prof. A.W. Wijeratne from the Department of Agribusiness Management, Faculty of Agricultural Sciences shared his experience in Inventions as a Resource person.

The workshop was organized in joint collaboration with the Industrial Collaboration Unit and the Career Guidance Cell of the Faculty of Technology.

IET Introduction Session

IET Introduction session was successfully held online on the 2nd of May, 2022, for the 2nd and 3rd-year students of  Engineering Technology and Biosystems Technology. Ms Thilini Wasundara and Mr Priyanga Ambanwala were the resource persons for this session, and they presented their volunteering experience of IET with the benefits of IET membership.

Faculty of Technology of Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka has organized a Workshop on "Making a Professional Resume" for the 2017/2018 (Third year) batch who has to complete industrial training in the next semester. This was conducted by the academics of Department of Engineering Technology on 23rd March 2022 via ZOOM online platform.

Career Guidance Webinar Series

In order to develop positive attitudes of 1st year undergraduate students in Sabaragamuwa University towards study and fully engage them in career planning from the beginning of their life in University, the Career Guidance Unit of the Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka has organized a subsequent webinar series for the 1st year undergraduates of Faculty of Technology starting from 26th  November 2020.

The first webinar was “Vision for the New Beginning"  which was conducted by Mr. Deepal Wijayasekara, Career Guidance Counselor.
