Author Instructions

Authors who wish to publish their research, review papers, directed study, independent study and mini project report at the symposium under following themes, must submit the abstracts according to the guidelines given.

Themes:
  1. Food Science and Chemical Technology
  2. Natural Sciences and Technology
  3. Sport Science and Physical Education
  4. Engineering Technology
  5. Biosystems Technology
General Guidelines
  • Authors should upload blind abstracts (leaving out the names of authors and their affiliations, for the purpose of blind reviewing) for initial submission to the CMT, and details of ALL AUTHORS must be added to the authors section of the CMT submission page.
  • Abstracts submitted with author details will not be considered for reviewing and authors will be requested to resubmit according to above-given instructions.
  • Research work presented or published elsewhere will not be considered.
  • Authors should submit abstracts under one of the five themes. Editorial Board reserves the right to change the theme of the abstract selected by the authors to a more relevant theme, if necessary.
  • It is important for all authors to recognize that plagiarism in any form, at any level, is unacceptable and is considered a serious breach of professional.
  • Kindly note that authors from outside Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka are required to submit an extended abstract. Template for the extended abstract can be found below.
  • If your Abstract is accepted, you will be asked to submit the camera-ready version of the Abstract before the stipulated deadline.
Please adhere to the specified guidelines provided below for abstract preparation.
  • Margins:- Abstracts must be in single spacing, font size 12 in Times New Roman
  • Extended Abstract Length: (Only for authors from outside Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka) :- 1500 Words
  • Abstract Length:- 300 Words
  • File Format: Abstract must be submitted in Word file format
  • Title: Written in title case, font size 14, bold and centered
  • Camera-ready Copy of the Abstract must be submitted in word format
  • Key Words:- 4-5 keywords

Review Process

The submitted abstracts will be reviewed by a panel of experts in the relevant fields and the decision about the acceptance/ rejection/acceptance with changes will be notified to the authors. If the reviewers‘ decision is ‘acceptance with changes’, you have to do the changes mentioned in the reviewers‘ comments and make the camera-ready copy.

If your paper is accepted, submit the camera ready copy after addressing the comments of the reviewers.
The acceptance of the work ensures that the work will be presented at the symposium.

Authors should upload the scanned copy of Author Declaration Form signed by all authors, to the CMT along with the Camera-ready Abstract.

If your paper is accepted, at least one author of the paper has to register as an author for the URSTech & APSURS 2024.

After being registered as an author, you would be notified with the date, time, venue, and the session on which you have to present your paper. On the day of your presentation, you must attend the appropriate session for which you have been informed and present your paper when it is your turn.
If the work involves more than one author, we expect the presence of at least one author at the conference.

Presentation Formats
  • Oral Presentation – (15 minutes: 12 minute talk + 3 minute Q&A) – Oral presentations are ideal for presenting research projects that are close to completion, with emerging conclusions.

  • Poster – Because they are on show for the entire symposium, poster presentations allow you to showcase your work to a broader audience and provide opportunities for discussion with your peers one-on-one or in small groups. Traditionally, poster presenters have used the opportunity to present works in progress, preliminary results, new methods and techniques, or detailed proposals for future research.

    The poster size should be 75 cm in width and 90 cm in height.
