CESTour- Training Programmes

The Centre of Excellence for Sustainable Tourism; “CESTour Knowledge Hub” under the Faculty of Management Studies of Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka, successfully conducted a one-day training on “Leave No Trace: An Awareness Session on Outdoor Ethics” for B.Sc. (Hons.) in Tourism Management and B.Sc. (Hons.) in Hospitality Management undergraduates of the Department of Tourism Management on 07th February 2023. The training was resourced by Ms. Krishani Samaraweera, Certified Leave No Trace Trainer of The Leave No Trace Center for Outdoor Ethics and the Ms Rudmi Jaywardena, Senior Lecturer of the Department of Tourism Management and the CESTour trainer. The workshop is mainly focused on how Leave No Trace skills and ethics can help protect the environment and outdoor spaces and promote responsible, sustainable outdoor pursuits and recreation, the role of the Seven Principles of Leave No Trace in achieving these goals, the impact that sporting,  recreational and leisure activities can have on the natural environment and minimizing techniques.


The Centre of Excellence for Sustainable Tourism; "CESTour Knowledge Hub" of Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka, successfully exhibited at 'Sancharaka Udawa 2023'; Sri Lanka's largest Travel & Tourism Fair, on 19th & 20th of May 2023 representing the exhibitor category of 'Tourism Education'. The assigned stall was exhibited by the CESToour Knowledge Hub interns plus a group of undergraduates under the guidance of Dr. Sarath Munasinghe (Head of the Department of Tourism management) and Mr. Hiran Dinusha (Member-CESTour Project of SUSL). 250 plus exhibitors and 10,000 plus visitors gathered at one place and the SUSL stall could make the visitors aware of the role of the Department of Tourism Management in fostering tourism education, current projects undertaken, role of CESTour Knowledge Hub; its objectives, roles, functions, and available opportunities where the visitors can work collaboratively with the CESTour Knowledge hub in promoting sustainable tourism in the island destination.
