The first International Conference on Social Sciences and Languages (ICSSL) is organized by the Faculty of Social Sciences and Languages, Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka. ICSSL 2023 is an open forum for academics, researchers, undergraduate and postgraduate students and industry professionals, to present their research findings in the discipline of social sciences and languages.

Socio-economic policies have played a critical role in the country and erroneous decision making will lead to bankruptcy of the entire economy leading to short term, intermediate and long run concerns to the people of Sri Lanka. Increasing the quality of life of people will be further affected by socio-cultural relationships and networking which is increasingly affected by information technology. The first International Conference on Social Sciences and Languages (ICSSL) 2023 will take place on the 11th and 12th of January 2023. The conference will feature a range of presentations on multidisciplinary research activities in social sciences and languages, guest speeches and keynote addresses by leading personalities in both national and international contexts. The conference will be preceded by two online workshops related to quantitative and qualitative data analysis. ICSSL will be held on a hybrid platform and the theme of “Enhancing the Quality of Life through Innovative Strategies for Sustainable Development” will be the focus of ICSSL 2023.

Objectives

The overarching objectives of ICSSL 2023 are;

  • to provide a platform of an intellectual gathering for both local and international researchers and academics of social sciences and languages to publish and share their research findings.
  • to encourage innovative ideas and approaches to facilitate Sustainable Development of the country.
  • to strengthen the network among young researchers and local and foreign experts in the disciplines of social sciences and languages.
  • to encourage multidisciplinary discussions among researchers and practitioners to integrate different research findings of social sciences and languages into sectorial, regional, institutional and country specific policy dialogue.
