Welcome to the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences
The Faculty of Agricultural Sciences of Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka was initially established at Rahangala in 1995 and was shifted to the main premises at Belihuloya in 2001. Faculty offers B.Sc. Agricultural Sciences and Management, a four year degree which provides specializations in Agribusiness Management, Commercial Horticulture, Plantation Management and Livestock Production.

Investigate the Product Harm Crisis in Ceylon Cinnamon Value Chain
W.M.T.B Weddagala presented the findings on “Investigate the Product Harm Crisis in Ceylon Cinnamon Value Chain” at International Conference on Agriculture, Food Security and Safety (AgroFood 2019) which was organized by iconference. Conference was held at Galle Face Hotel Colombo on 7 - 8 November 2019.
A workshop on ‘Good Laboratory Practices’
The Faculty of Agricultural Sciences in collaboration with the Faculty Quality Assurance Cell (FQAC) of the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences conducted a one-day workshop on " Good Laboratory Practices (GLP)” on 25th November 2019. The workshop was conducted at the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences of Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka.
Intensive programme for new intake- 2017/18 academic year - Faculty of Agricultural sciences
Faculty of Agricultural Sciences is conducting an intensive programme for the new students’ intake 2017/18 with the collaboration of all three departments of faculty. The sessions organized by the Department of Agribusiness Management with related to the programme were designed by the academic staff under the supervision of Prof. D.A.M. De Silva, the head of department.
'International Network for Quality Assurance Agencies in Higher Education’-INQAAHE-2019
INQAAHE (International Network for Quality Assurance Agencies in Higher Education) 15th Biennial Conference 2019 was held at BMICH-Colombo, Sri Lanka from 25th -27th March 2019.’Quality assurance, qualifications, and recognition; Fostering trust in a globalized world’ was the conference theme for year 2019. The conference was hosted by the UGC-Sri Lanka. INQAAHE has been launched keeping the prime objective as to establish and build on trust in tertiary education. INQAAHE was also managed to establish a global enhancement platform for the quality assurance expertise and to share their achievements, novel findings, and approaches with their international peers.
Visit of JICA Team – Fact Finding Mission/Agriculture Data Collection
By the invitation of Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture sciences, there were three member team lead by Ms.Tamura Tomoko from Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) has visited and have cordial discussions with Dean of the Faculty Dr. Manjula PS Magamage and other Faculty on 6th March 2019 from 10.00- 12.00 pm. Both parties were discussed the most suitable project ideas in the field of agriculture and that JICA required to have priority during next round of human capital development projects in Sri Lanka 2020-2025. During this meeting Dean, faculty of agricultural Sciences and representatives from all three departments of the faculty were participated. The discussion was concentrated mainly on following topics.
Sri Lanka Fulbright Commission and US Embassy Study Team Visited Faculty of Agricultural Sciences for Academic & Research Promotion Program
By the Invitation of Dean, Dr. Manjula PS Magamage and organized by Professor DAM De Silva, Sri Lanka Fulbright Commission flagged by US embassy in Sri Lanka visited faculty for the promotion of Fulbright opportunities and American Education among the young academics of the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences was conducted on 22nd March 2019. Mrs. Sandarshi Gunawardhana, Executive Director of Sri Lanka US Fulbright Commission and Ms. Mellissa Paulmen, Cultural Attached to the US Embassy were among the participants.
A workshop on ‘Learning Management System: An update into 2019’
The Faculty Quality Assurance Cell (FQAC) of the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences organized a workshop on ‘Learning Management System: An update into 2019’ on 17th July 2019 for the academic staff members of the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences. This workshop was held at the Computer Centre, Faculty of Agricultural Sciences.
