Webinar on “Micro Finance
Product / Service Development”
The webinar to enhance the knowledge of undergraduates regarding the development of products and
services in Microfinance was conducted on 24th June & 2nd July 2021 from 9.00 a.m. to 12.00 noon via
zoom for the second-year Banking and Insurance undergraduates of the Department of Accountancy
and Finance, Faculty of Management Studies of Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka. The session's
main objective was to examine the process of products and services development in the Microfinance
industry and analyze the different types of microfinance products and services based on clients’
requirements. The valuable insights regarding Microfinance were shared by Mr. Imran Nafeer, a
Microfinance Consultant and former President/Secretary of the Lanka Microfinance Practitioner’s
Association. The session was organized by the AHEAD Department Project, Department of
Accountancy & Finance, Faculty of Management Studies, Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka. After
successfully completing the session, the undergraduates were expected to understand the scientific
process of developing new microfinance products & services or adding value to existing microfinance
products & services. Further, the students were expected to develop new microfinance
products/services or add value to existing microfinance products/services as an assignment.
