Course Introduction

The course complies the Sri Lanka Qualification Framework [SLQF] level 03.

Intended Learning Outcomes of the course

This diploma program equips you with a broad range of practical skills and knowledge that are highly sought after by employers across various industries catering to the following objectives.

• Develop a comprehensive understanding of fundamental principles in various areas of business management by providing in-depth knowledge and practical examples in areas such as finance, marketing, human resources, etc. to ensure a well-rounded understanding.

Duration

The course runs for one year structured for two semesters. During the period of the course students should sit for 02 written examinations at the end of each semester. Every student should submit a project report at the end of the second semester for the completion of the diploma course.

Mode of Delivery of lectures

Classes are scheduled in weekends (Both Saturday and Sunday) in online and some classes will be conducted physically at the Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka. There will be 9-12 class hours per week.

Entry Qualifications

1.      Pass 03 subjects from any stream in G.C.E. Advance Level examination

Or

2.      Pass G.C.E. (O/L) examination AND 2 years of working experience in a reputed Organization/ 2 years of experience as an entrepreneur

Or

3.      Pass the first level of a professional course (Ex: AAT, ACA, CIMA, CMA)

Or

4.      Completion of a Diploma Course (SLQF Level 03) in any field from a recognized university by the UGC Sri Lanka or equivalent NVQ qualification (NVQ Level 05)

Or

5.      Successful completion of an advance certificate course (SLQF Level 02 or NVQ Level 04) of a related field (Business Management/HRM/etc) AND 02 Years of working experience

Or

6.      Any other qualification/s accepted by the Senate, SUSL

Course Fees

Application Processing Fee  : Rs. 1000.00 (Non-Refundable)

Course Fee                             : Rs. 40,000.00 (Two Installments)                          

Students can pay the course fee in two installments as follows.

At Registration          :  Rs. 25,000.00

Within three months :  Rs. 15,000.00 (Before the first semester examination)    

All subjects consist continuous assessments (25%) and a written examination (75%) except project report (EDBM 1273) and all evaluations are conducted by the Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka.

Grading Policy

-        The applicant should take a minimum Grade of C (40% marks) to pass a subject.

-        Repeat students those who are having C-, D+, D or E can repeat the examination of a course unit twice and apply for the examination at the first available opportunity.

-        Grades "E" must be upgraded to complete the Diploma.

-        Grades C-, D+, D can be upgraded (will get only two attempts) if the student wishes to improve his/her GPA.

-        Those who are sitting for the second or third attempt should be paid Rs. 1000.00 per subject as the repeat examination payments.

-        The maximum grade given for the repeat examination shall be "C" (GPA 2.00).

Awarding of Diploma

-        The final overall GPA must be 2.00 or above to complete the Diploma.

-        The student who got C-, D+, or D grade for any subject(s) will be awarded the Diploma if he/she fulfills overall final GPA 2.00.

-        The respective course program should be completed within four years.

The following grades are offered considering the final GPA score.

Those who passed the Diploma in Business Management successfully will be called for the Certificate Awarding of Center for Open and Distance Learning, Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka to take over the final Diploma certificate. The Transcript of records will be granted only for the students who was able to complete all the subjects, and others who did not pass all the subjects are concerned as the incomplete students.
