Diploma in Financial Management

This diploma programme is designed for candidates who are interested in progressing their career in the field of financial management. It provides knowledge in financial decision making skills in various institutions namely; financial institutions, corporations and financial consultancies etc. Further, this diploma enables the participants who are in the non-financial background to gain knowledge in financial management that assist for their career advancement. 

Course Duration

This course is a one-year part time course (Lecturers are on weekends) with two semesters. 

Medium of Instructions

The medium of instructions of the diploma is Sinhala.

Aims and Objectives 

After completing this course students are expected to;

a. Apply the theories knowledge in practice. 

b. Develop quality administrative skills in terms of planning, organizing and controlling finance resources

 

Entry Requirements

The candidates who fulfil following qualifications can apply for this course.

a. School leavers with  3 passes at G.C.E. (Advanced Level) who are seeking for their career in the field of finance or;

b. NVQ Level 4 holders of UGC approved government and private higher education institute or;

c. Partly qualified students of CA/CIMA/ACCA/CIM/HNDA or;

d. Qualified students of  AAT (Sri Lanka)/AAT (UK)/ICSA (UK)/IFA (UK)/IBSL or;

e. Those who have more than two years of working experience in the field of finance in a reputed organisation. 

Course fee

Total course fee Rs.36, 000

Candidates can pay the course fee in two instalments. (The first instalment is Rs.20, 000 and the second instalment is Rs.16, 000). First instalment should pay at the point of registration and the second before the first term examination.

Intended Course Outcomes

The students who complete this course should be able to;

a. Apply the theories, principles and concepts of finance in financial analysis and investment decisions

b. Critically evaluate the financial information and apply corporate financing knowledge to business

c. Critically apply risk management concepts

d. Critically evaluate the business impact of administrative management

e. Develop quality administrative skills in terms of planning, organizing and controlling

f. Prepare business essays/ project reports

Each course unit will, in general, carry a total of 100 marks.  However, 75% of the total marks will be assigned to written examinations and 25% is assigned to continuous assessments except DPFM 251: extended essay
