    Profile

  • My desire is to expand my knowledge and skills to achieve my aspiration as a university academic who can contribute more to the development of the people in the world. In line with this yearning, I undertook an undergraduate special degree in Financial Management (English medium), from which I graduated with a first-class division (Best performer of the batch with highest GPA), and has provided me with an indispensable foundation. Then, I completed my master's degree in business statistics, which is very helpful for enhancing my data analysis capabilities. My master thesis was selected as the 2nd Runner-up of the Best Research Project (Postgraduate) in 2017 by the Institute of Applied Statistics Sri Lanka (IASSL). I believe that my educational background, coupled with more than ten-year working experience as a lecturer, will allow me to meet the austerity of my career life.

Moreover, I could be able to contribute to some of the editorial works of research such as the associate editor in Asian Journal of Finance (AJF), which is newly introduced by the Department of Accountancy & Finance, and co-editor of the edited book “Contemporary Issues in Finance” by the same department of the Faculty of Management Studies, Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka.

Further, I had the opportunity to contribute to the research conferences at my university, as well as other educational institutes in the country.  That expanded my knowledge and skills in research in several fields. Being a co-chair/rapporteur/panel member/reviewer to the Interdisciplinary Conference of Management Researchers (ICMR) and Management Undergraduates’ Research Session (MURS) conducted by the faculty of Management Studies, Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka, could be able to gather lots of insights of the different field of expertise.

Furthermore, I have gained research and scientific writing experience by writing research articles. Up to now, I have six journal publications, four book chapters and thirty-eight conference papers published in various places nationally and internationally. I have 170+ google scholar citations for those research publications. There, I have covered the areas relevant to the Capital market of Sri Lanka with macroeconomic indicators of the country. Some of the research is relevant to Bank, Finance and Insurance companies in the country. My interest is in the contemporary issues in the field of accounting as well. Supervising undergraduates (Financial Management and Banking & Insurance) and postgraduate (Master in Business Administration and Master in Ayurvedic Hospital Management) students and working as an examiner for their theses and dissertations also gave me additional advantages to widen my knowledge of research methodology.
