    Profile

  • My purpose is to comfort others and support them with my capacity to grow their lives. As an academic, I broaden my knowledge, potential, and skills to enhance myself, my students, and my colleagues to make this world a better place. I could earn my undergraduate qualification in Bachelor of Science in Insurance and Valuation from the Wayamba University of Sri Lanka, holding the gold medal for my academic performance, and then served in the finance industry for more than 5 years, exposed to vivid experiences and corporate culture. Then I joined the Faculty of Management Studies at the Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka as an academic, mainly serving in the Bachelor of Science Banking and Insurance degree program. After that, I completed my postgraduate qualification from the University of Moratuwa with a Master of Science in Business Statistics. Then, earnt a Philosophy of Doctorate in International Relations from the International University of Japan with lots of challenges faced.

In addition to academic achievement, I am enrolling as an associate editor for the Asian Journal of Finance (AJF) in the Department of Accountancy & Finance and a reviewer for the peer review international journals. I could enhance my research expertise and skills by contributing to national and international research conferences as a reviewer/panel member and a presenter. Mainly I could become an invited speaker at the 12th International Microinsurance Conference held in Colombo in 2016, organized by the Munich Re Foundation. There are two journal articles, one working paper, and four book chapters in addition to the fifteen conference proceedings under my authorship and co-authorship. Those articles and research findings were relevant to the banking and insurance industry, microinsurance, finance, and economic growth and institutions from an international political economy perspective.

Mainly my teachings are on non-life insurance, risk management, marine and aviation insurance, underwriting, claims management, and, more importantly, personality and professional development. I have been delivering my lectures at the Faculty of Management Studies at Sabaragamuwa University while working in the Faculty of Social Sciences and Languages, and some external campuses to provide my field of interest as a visiting lecturer. Further, my career was enriched by the experiences of handling different roles on the committee of the International Conference on Management Researchers (ICMR), coordinator of the practical training unit, and coordinator of the Diploma in Financial Management at the Centre for Open and Distance Learning. Mainly, I could tack care of the students' matters as a student counselor and a mentor at the Faculty.
