  • Mr. Namal Wijesundara received his Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Tourism  Management degree from the Department of Tourism Management, Faculty of Management Studies, Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka (SUSL) in 2006 and gained his Master of Arts (MA) in Tourism Economics and Hotel Management from the Department of Economics, University of Colombo in 2016. Mr.Namal started his professional career as a Tour Executive in one of the leading inbound travel companies, Asian Exotice (Pvt) Ltd. While working in Asian Exotica, he got foreign opportunity to join with Maldivian Inbound travel company “Summer Holidays” and worked in Maldives for a short period. In 2008, Mr. Namal could join with one of the leading INGOs in Sri Lanka “Mercy Corps” as the Tourism Officer for home district of Hambantota. During the stay in Mercy Corps, he could able to develop tourism & tourism entrepreneurs in many ways. Mr.Namal joined with the Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka in 2009 as a Temporary lecturer. He joined with the Department of Tourism Management in Faculty of Management Studies in 2009 and he was promoted as a probationary lecturer in 2010 and promoted to the senior lecturer position in 2016. Currently he is conducting lecturers on “Tours and travel agency operations”, “Front office management”, “Tourism resources & recreation management”, and “Service quality management”.  He also conducts visiting lectures in some of the tourism education institutes in Sri Lanka such as University college in Rathmalana, University college in Batangala, Metropolitan University….etc. Mr. Namal is the current coordinator of the “Practical Training Unit “ in Faculty of Management studies, SUSL and he is the current coordinator of the Diploma in Tourism and Hospitality Management offered by the Centre for Open and Distance Learning (CODL), SUSL.
