The University museum that came into being in 1997 as place where the historically significant artifacts of the area would be preserved serves both the University and the region in general. The Museum records and preserves some of the most important historical landmarks in the history of province Sabaragamuwa.

It houses from palm leaf manuscripts, royal household items, old coins, ancient gems, to historical evidences regarding world famous iron industry in the Samanalawewa area. There is also historically significant documentation in respect to provincial heritages. One can also get there very good information about the origin and the development of the university.
