 International
* Through the University Website the International community had made correspondents to get information through our Libraries. Some Canadian Professors and United Kingdom University Professors personally visited our Library after going through the Website of our Library homepage. They plan to have some link programmes through the University curricular.
*

The Senior Asst. Librarian , Faculty of Agriculture Mr. W.W.K. Lalith has migrated to follow his PhD in “Wuhan University” of China on September 2007.

 National
* The Librarian of the SUSL Ms. T.N. Neighsoorei has conducted a Seminar to celebrate the National Reading month on September 14th at the R / Shanthi Nikethana Pirivena in Karagasthalawa , Belihuloya.
*

The library staff at the SUSL system had participated for the Seminar conducted by the University Staff Development Center by the patronage of the National Library Services & Documentation Board held on 14th Sep. 2007 to mark the National Reading Month.

* The External Services Unit of the Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka has been conducted a Certificate Course on “Library & Information Science” for the public community.
* A few students from the Advanced Technological Institute Badulla, visited SUSL main library on 3rd Oct. 2007, in order to make their dissertation in the final year Examination.
 Institutional
* The Library organized a hands on training programme from 10th – 15th December 2007 for the staff of the library regarding the new software introduced to the SUSL library for Automation by the guidencies of LIBSYS Technologies (Pvt) Ltd. in India.
*

Since 17th September up to 04th October 2007, the Library staff conducted the Orientation programme for the new intake of 485 undergraduates. The Library issued a Hand book for each student for their knowledge.

* The International Buddhist Center Viharaya, Wellawattha has donated about 155 valuable books for the SUSL library.
* The Senior Library staff had participated for the workshop conducted by Quality assurance in Libraries by the patronage of the World Bank project held at Sri Lanka Foundation Institute in Colombo.
* The Librarian Ms. T.N. Neighsoorei has participated for a “ Quality Assurance in Libraries Reviewer Training Workshop held at Hotel Hilltop, Kandy on 6th – 7th July 2007 by the patronage of the World Bank project.
* The Assistant Librarian of the main Library Mr. P.K.C.M. Wijewickrama has participated for the hands on training workshop “ On Administration and Maintenance of Hardware / Software Systems in Open Source Environment “ held at University of Ruhuna conducted by University Librarian’s Association on 6th – 7th Dec. 2007.
* Ms. A.J.M.R.C. Kumari Jayasundera ( Labourer ) and Mr. K.G. Madduma Bandara ( Labourer ) were trained for Book Binding in National Library Services and Documentation Board from 26th – 27th March 2007.
* Some of our Library Assistants were participated for the workshop conducted by University Librarian’s Association for “Development of E- information skills ” held on 22nd – 23rd 2007 at University of Ruhuna.
 Personal
* The Librarian has been selected as a Representative of the Sabaragamuwa Province Libraries by the Sri Lanka Library Association at Organization of Professional Association Center.(OPA)
*

The Sri Lanka Military Academy Library was well developed by helping of the Library of Sabaragamuwa University.

* The following library staff got promotions from their carriers as follows;
  1. Mr. P.H.S.W. Karunarathna promoted as Library Asst. Gr.iii from 03rd Sep. 2007 to the Faculty of Agriculture Library.
  2. Ms. K.L.D.C. Lekamge promoted as Library Asst. Gr.iii from 03rd Sep. 2007 to the Faculty of Agriculture Library.
  3. Ms. P.W.P. Vithanage promoted as Library Asst. Gr.iii from 03rd Sep. 2007 to the Faculty of Applied Science Library.
* The Library staff participated for the workshop conducted on Staff Development Center,

  2. Ms. M.G.P.K. Premadasa - Library Asst. Gr: ii
* The following library staff has transferred as follows;
  1. Mr.A.M Premawardena - Library Asst. Gr:iii From Faculty of Applied Sciences to Facuty of Agriculture .
  2. Ms. K.L.D.C. Lekamge - Library Asst. Gr.iii From Main Library to Faculty of Agriculture.
 New Appointments:
  1. Mr. P.K.C.M. Wijewickrama appointed as Asst. Librarian to the Main Library from 03rd Sep.2007.
  2. Ms. P.S.D. Nilani appointed as Library Asst. Gr:iii to the Faculty of Agriculture Library from 03rd Sep. 2007.
 :: 2006 - Tenth Anniversary Celebrations
* Organised a debate competition and an Essay competition for the School community under several titles and the levels of classes. The participants were selected by the secondary schools of the Balangoda area.
  - The pannel of judges nominated by the Organising Committee of the School Activities.
- The winning team of the debate competition was R / Udagama Madya Maha Vidyalaya, Udagama, Pinnawela, Balangoda.
*

The winners of the Essay Competition were partipated from R/ St. AgnusBalika Maha Vidyalaya,R/Sasthralankara Vidyalaya, R/Dandeniya Vidyalaya, R/ Balangoda  Ananda Maithriya National School, R/ Udagama Madya Maha Vidyalaya.

* Organised Book Exhibitions
* Displayed CD's regarding the Sabaragamuwa Province
  :: 2005

Celebrated the National Reading Month (NRM) from October. 2005 at the Sabaragamuwa University by displaying valuable quotations of banners.
* The Librarian of the Sabaragamuwa University Mrs. T.N. Neighsoorei conducted a seminar to fulfill Community Development obligations for the R / Jeilani Central College ( National School ) on 11 th May, 2005.
*

The Librarian of the Sabaragamuwa University Mrs. T.N. Neighsoorei rendered her service as a Consultant to the Library of the Sri Lanka Military Acadamy at Diyathalawa on 12 th and 13 th February 2005.
*

The Library organized a demonstration for e-Journal package of Elsevier Science Direct by the representative Mr. Nishant Atri on 6 th December 2005.
 
* Prof. Ray Wijewardena from University of Moratuwa visited the Central Library on 15 th June 2005.
*

International Association of University President (IAUP) and the President of the Siam University, Thailand Prof. PornchaiMongkhonvanit visited to the Library on 25 th Nov. 2005.
*

Prof. Emeritus MasayoshiTsutakawa and Prof. Piyadasa Ratnayake with students from SAGA University, Japan visited the Central Library on 24 th Dec. 2005.

* Prof. Thilakarathne from University of Peradeniya visited the Central Library on 24 th Dec. 2005.

The Library Assistants of the Central library participated in a work shop on the “Effective Communication skills for perfect service ” organized by University Librarian’s Association on 18 th & 19 th Nov. 2004.
*

Celebrated the National Reading Month (NRM) from 18 th to 22 nd Oct. 2004 at the Sabaragamuwa University by conducting a book exhibition for the use of the University community as well as the community of the vicinity.
*

As a part of the NRM, on 19 th Oct. 2004 a guest lecture was help on Literacy & Reading Promotion by Mr. Piyadasa Ranasinghe, former Librarian of the Rajarata University and the Head of the Dept. of Library Science & Information Services at University of Kelaniya.

* The Librarian of the Sabaragamuwa University Mrs. T.N. Neighsoorei has conducted a seminar to fulfill Community Development obligations for the R / Jeilani Central College ( National School ) on 28 th April 2004.
