In the Central Library there are about
92,886 books. The collection is divided in to three sections and housed separately. The Central Library organized their collection using by Dewey Decimal Classification system and the publications were catalogued according to the Anglo American Cataloguing Rules & Regulations 2nd edition and the Library used The Library of Congress Subject Headings for information retrieval .
The lending section
The books in this section are issued on 14 days loan system. Most common books, text books, fiction and general reading materials are shelved in this section.
The reference section
The books in this section can be borrowed only for overnight references. Most course related, expensive and rare materials are stocked in this section.
Permanent reference section
Contains most expensive and rare items as well as precious donations. Users are allowed in-house references only. |
