The Faculty of Agricultural Sciences in collaboration with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of the Faculty of Agricultural
Sciences organized a one-day workshop on "Good Laboratory Practices (GLP)” on 21st September 2016.The workshop was conducted at the Staff Development Centre (SDC) Auditorium of Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka.
Prof. Chandana P. Udawatte, Vice Chancellor-Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka, Dr. HSR Rosairo, Dean-Faculty of Agricultural Sciences, Prof. PMAS Karunaratne, Director-Internal Quality Assurance Unit, and Dr. RK Mutucumarana, Co-ordinator-Faculty of Agricultural Sciences, IQAU, participated the inauguration ceremony.
This workshop discussed the basic concept of GLP in basic science laboratories. Understanding of the mode of actions of non-clinical and clinical laboratory set up and safety and identifying critical hazardous and emergency applications in general laboratory set up were also in focus. This workshop covered number of important themes including Record Keeping, Laboratory Charts and First Aid.
Around 40 participants from academic staff, academic supportive staff, laboratory staff, graduates and many other interested individuals were participated to the workshop.
Dr. MMP Sumith, Dr. HAD Ruwandeepika Senior Lecturers-Department of Livestock Production, Faculty of Agricultural Sciences, Dr. Scott Gene Cruz, Lab Manager- Physiology Lab, University of Nebraska, USA and Dr. Haritha Baduraliya, Medical Officer, Medical Center, Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka participated to the GLP workshop as resource persons.
Good Laboratory Practice workshop was coordinated by Dr. MMP Sumith, Senior Lecturer attached to the Department of Livestock Production, Faculty of Agricultural Sciences.
