The Department of Agribusiness Management, Faculty of Agricultural Sciences, organized a one-day workshop on “B.Sc. (Food Business Management) Degree Program”
for Academics and Industry Stakeholders on 13th October 2016, at the Sri Lanka Foundation Institute-Colombo.
Academic staff of the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences and 25 reputed representatives from the industry participated to the workshop.
The key objectives of conducting this workshop were, to improve the awareness level of industry stakeholders regarding the proposed degree program, to finalize the course capsules developed for the proposed degree program, to develop strong links with the industry in the delivery of the proposed degree program and to set the platform to create an excellent learning environment at the Faculty and the Department.
The workshop was successfully conducted as group discussions and the presentations of the participants provided a platform to open up the participant’s expectations about the new degree program. The industry stakeholders explained their expectations from the new degree program and their suggestions were finally concluded in main five areas namely (i) Generic Graduate Skills/Profile, (ii) Business Management Related Skills, (iii) Science Related Skills, (iv)Industrial training and research Skills (v) Experts' Comments.
This workshop was organized by the Department of Agribusiness Management of Faculty of Agricultural Sciences in collaboration with Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences under the supervision of Prof. R. P. Mahaliyanaarachchi (Chair of the Department and the Coordinator of the Degree Program) and was coordinated by Mr. P. Sivashankar, Lecturer (Prob.) of Faculty of Agricultural Sciences.
