Remote Sensing (RS) generally refers to the technology of acquiring information about the earth using remote sensors. These sensors can be mounted on ground based, airborne or space-borne platforms. Geographic information systems (GISs) are designed to capture, store, manipulate, analyze, manage, and present spatial or geographic data. 

The department of Remote Sensing and GIS (RSGIS) provides knowledge for the integration of geospatial data utilising RS and GIS techniques. Further students are provided knowledge about geospatial analysis and modeling, development of geospatial databases, information systems design, human - computer interaction technologies.
