Sabaragamuwa University join hands with Health sector to combat against COVID-19

Sabaragamuwa University contributes 20 ICU Beds to Rathnapura Teaching Hospital.
The Academic Members of Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka collected a fund worth 2 Million Rupees from their monthly salary and directly purchased 20 ICU Beds to Rathnapura Teaching Hospital to facilitate COVID patients. Dr. Kaveenka Koswattage and Dr. Sampath Fernando are the initiators of this activity. Sabaragamuwa University Teachers Association and all the academic lecturers contributed to the fund.

Professor M. Sunil Shantha, The Vice Chancellor of Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka, handed over two polymerase chain reaction (PCR) machines to Dr. Anuja Rodrigo, the Director of the Rathnapura Teaching Hospital to be used for the testing of COVID-19 patients on 28 th of March 2020. The machines are used at the Faculty of Medicine of Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka.

Academic Members of Faculty of Medicine of Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka are physically contributing to conduct the test of COVID-19 patients at Rathnapura Teaching Hospital. The team is led by Professor Nirmali M Wickramaratne (Dean of the Faculty of Medicine), Dr. N D Amal Wageesha and Dr. Kaveesha Wijesinghe.
