As part of the new initiative in Sri Lanka titled "software for the 21st Century", Microsoft Sri Lanka is providing our university with many of the latest cutting edge software, which would enable our students to be exposed to the best of world class Technology, absolutely free of charge. This software is also available to our staff members (again free of charge), enabling them to use these technologies at home as well.
The above Microsoft's commitment towards enabling job opportunities as well as fostering local innovation, will be executed through several initiatives. One such program is MSDNAA. The membership provides a complete, free solution for academic labs, faculties, and students to be on the leading edge of technology.
Software offered under MSDNAA includes windows Server & client, Visual studio, SQL Server, Exchange Server, Expression Studio, Project, Visio and MSDN Library. As part of Microsoft's Software for the 21st Century program, MSDNAA will be offered as a free program for 3 consecutive years.
One of the other programs under this is Live@edu - a free web based email and collaboration platform. Also ELMS (E-academy License Management System) is a critical part of the program that will support administrators to smoothly distribute the home user rights.
